Alison Shmerling, MD

Alison is originally from just outside Boston. She attended Northwestern University for her BA in Spanish with a minor in Global Health. Following graduation, she worked in Washington, DC at the Center for Studying Health System Change, where she contributed to research on shared decision-making. She attended medical school at Tufts University in Boston, and concurrently received her MPH. During her family medicine residency at the University of Colorado, she was a Larry Green Visiting Scholar at the Graham Center, where she worked on a project using social network analysis to evaluate shared patient networks among providers. She is the Farley Center policy fellow for 2017-2018, with particular interests in healthcare cost, spending and price disparities, specifically in the realm of behavioral health.
