At the AAMC, Dr. Shipman works with a wide range of primary care leaders to enhance the promotion and dissemination of effective innovations in teaching and delivery of primary care. He promotes the role of primary care in emerging high-value ambulatory care models, and leads a national multicenter health care innovation awards project funded by CMMI, aiming to improve efficiency and quality of ambulatory care at the interface of primary care and specialty care in academic medical centers. Dr. Shipman was trained as a general pediatrician and health services researcher, and has studied the healthcare workforce extensively. Following his residency, he completed an RWF Clinical Scholars fellowship at Johns Hopkins where he received his MPH. He maintains a faculty position at Geisel School of Medicine and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
